Haha! I think there should be a salary cap in football its ridiculous the amounts some of them get payed!

I was thinking the other day imagine if football changed and players were like 10 and 60 for ronaldo but then I thought the wages wouldnt be able to go that low...hell we have to let 'em survive!
Could be a few bungs aswell... slip and 50 note here and there!

A salary cap would only work if all other nations abided by it. It would be no good having the wages of the EPL capped at say, 65% of turnover if the likes of Real Madrid could offer anything under the sun and more.

Also, though the wages may seem obscene to many, you have to remember that a footballers career is short and very restrictive with regards to what they can do. Most of them will leave training and then sit around on the sofa all day, whether to rest or because they have limits on just what they can do.

Then there is the issue of the amount of money that a player brings to a club. Surely, if a player generates a revenue of say, 100m, then he should be paid accordingly? If a city boss generated similar he would see a reward, whether in a bonus or increased annual salary.

I agree... Imagine if only the UK had a salary cap all the decent players would be off to madrid on 100k a week!

But it would mean teams were forced to bring top quality English players thorugh the ranks, thus making the England national team better.
