Substandard Bin

Post by Leo on Thu Jan 03, 2008 9:57 am

I was interested in getting a substandard newbery bat (Ugly Bin) but I just recieved this email! Changed my mind now!
We do have a junior bat sub bin for people who visit the shop at Hove , these are substandard junior bats . We do sell Mens sub standard bats from Hove starting at£70 if we have any sub bats.

Regards

The bats are not as cosmetically pleasing as the usual Newbery stndard. Where a company such as Woodworm, Puma etc. would sticker this up as a top grade and sell for full whack to an innocent kid, Newbery discount them...

Yes but the willow quality would not sell with other manufacturers because it is not good enough and would be down as a lower grade bat.

I'm not going to post on here often, only when I find something which is misinformative and in this case potentially libellous.

When I went there most of the bats were not ugly, but very very poorly pressed and manufactured. Hence why Nick and John referred to them as "Sub" bats rather than ugly bats. I went through 20-30 bats and all sounded like absolute dogs due to them being pressed far too hard. Some were also damaged with cracks or storm damage, which although not noticeable can cause terrible problems and bats can end up snapping literally in half.

I also wouldn't say Newbery were any more honest than any other big brands, I've heard stories about each and all which doesn't really match with the literature or advertising they provide with bats or on retailers websites.

The Sub bats are decent value @ £35 but you need to got through the bins to find a good one, not only good looking but more importantly good performing.
